Today in History we did research on our War theorys and found quotes from people who followed it. After researching this information, our groups put it all into a google document so we can refer back to the information when it comes time to work on our class talk show. The people who thought Just war was the proper way to veiw war were Thomas Aquinas, Colin Powell, Saint Augustine, Winston Churchill, and Plato. A helpful website I found while researching the Just War theory was http://www.justwartheory.com/. On this website there are many links to other sources about the Just war theory and lots of examples and quotes from important people in history and from today.
Reading Workshop!
The Just War theory reminds me of the 7th Harry Potter book. In this book, they use the Just war theory when deciding whether to go to war with the dark forces of Voldemort or not. If they do not fight back against them Voldemort will kill everyone remaining at Hogwarts, making them have a need for war. All the students and teachers at Hogwarts do not beleive in going to war for an unneccesary cause because they do everything in their power to avoid fighting Voldemort and his Death Eater Army until it comes to the point where it is neccesary for their survival to fight.
